On a bright Sunday morning in early June, Vitalstrats Creative Solutions kicked off its anniversary month with an event that was as joyous as it was purposeful. The Kapitolyo Barangay Hall came alive with laughter and creativity during the Our World Through Art Workshop, led by Team VCS Volunteers and supported by CWD (Children with Disabilities) Pasig.

Creating a Colorful Canvas: A Day of Art and Community

Through the OWTA Workshop, we witnessed the world through the vibrant and imaginative artworks of kids with disabilities and experienced the transformative power of community coming together in support of a meaningful cause.

Here’s a detailed look at the day's activities:

OWTA Art Kits

A registration desk was set up to distribute Art Kits, lovingly filled with art supplies such as oil pastels and coloring pencils. Special papers are donated by Prestige Paper Products. The initial interactions and informal warm-up exercises helped break the ice and prepare everyone for the creative day ahead.

10:15 AM - Hands-On Creativity: Workshop Activities

The main workshop activities were divided into two parts, each designed to encourage both collaboration and individual expression.

Collaborative Spirit: Group Creative Exercise

The first part of the workshop focused on group activities. Children were divided into five small groups, each facilitated by a Team VCS volunteer: Coach Jay, Coach Josh, Coach EJ, Coach Chesca, and Coach Jan.

Coach Nico led the program by first introducing the art tools available to the children. He then guided them through exercises designed to warm up their creative muscles.

Starting with the basics, he focused on lines, squiggles, waves, and various shapes, and also introduced textures through shadows, colors, and patterns.

The children were then tasked with creating their own vision of the world.

Success Through Collaboration

The first phase of the OWTA program has been a success and we owe it all to the invaluable support of our sponsors and partners. CWD Pasig played a key role in making this event possible, and we extend our special thanks to them. Additionally, we appreciate Barangay Kapitolyo for providing us with the venue.

We would also like to acknowledge our sponsors: Prestige Paper Products who provided high-quality paper that served as the children’s canvas and Kindred by Sunday Morning Studios who captured memorable moments all throughout the event through their photography.

The Future of The OWTA Project

Team VCS Volunteers with Ms. Belle Dizon from Kindred

OWTA was such a fulfilling way to start a very meaningful year for VCS. It was a rewarding experience collaborating with partners who aligned with our values and vision. However, the most rewarding aspect was providing children with disabilities the space and opportunity to express a piece of their lives, of their world, through art.
