FACING MONSTERS UNDER THE BED: TEAM VCS’ HALLOWEEN REFLECTION

Last October 28, Team VCS came together for a Halloween celebration that carried a deeper significance—it was not about costumes and candy, yet it fostered mental health awareness and support. The event, with the theme "Ghosts in Your Head, Monsters Beneath Your Bed," took place at the Hungry Neighbors in Quezon City.
This year, we shifted from the typical 'dressing up and putting on costumes.’ Instead, we celebrated Mental Health Month, where we 'unmasked' ourselves and sat down to talk about the ghosts lurking in our heads. The mini-gathering created a safe and welcoming space for our team to delve into conversations about our personal and professional challenges and experiences.
In a typical office environment, expressing emotions can be challenging, especially when everyone is preoccupied with their tasks. We often become so deeply immersed in our work that we sometimes forget that we need to take a pause—a pause that will let us look inside and face 'the monsters beneath our beds'.

“We are glad that we opted to replace the usual fun dress-ups with a simple get-together where we placed our hearts on our sleeves,” said Managing Partner and HR Director TJ Joson. She expressed that the team has now the capacity to support everyone more effectively after getting to know each other better and strengthening their bond.
Chief Creative Officer Amrei Dizon was genuinely happy about the activity's positive impact. She intends to host similar activities more often, as she believes that creating a space for the team to share their stories, if they are comfortable doing so, is a vital step towards fostering a healthy, supportive atmosphere. This, in turn, ensures that everyone understands they are not alone in their struggles.
The gathering also provided a wonderful opportunity to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Albert Dela Cruz, our Multimedia Production Supervisor, who has contributed five years of his valuable expertise and commitment to VCS.
Indeed, the Halloween celebration successfully hit two birds with one stone—it allowed the team to gather over delightful dinner and drinks, all while addressing the importance of taking care of their mental health.
