Sun Life, a global financial company, collaborated with VCS to launch a video project that attracts Gen Z and Millennial audiences and encourages them to become more proactive with their finances. The video also aimed to introduce Sun Life’s 7 Steps to a Brighter Life, which provides financial guidance and advice to help people build a better future.
The team produced a video with a central concept entitled “The Game of Life,” which tapped into the young generations’ passion for video games and appealed to their sense of persevering in challenges and celebrating wins.
The gamified video followed an 8-bit pixelated art style similar to famous old video games for a nostalgic and striking appeal to young audiences. Its story featured two characters who will accomplish game levels and fight villains to symbolize overcoming financial and life struggles.
The characters were also accompanied by an icon of Sun Life that served as their guide and protection, while a VO highlighted Sun Life’s 7 Steps to a Brighter Life as the characters’ key steps to overcoming struggles and reaching their goal.
With a gamified narrative and visual elements, the video showed an entertaining and informative way to encourage the target audience to learn about financial planning and actively build a better future.
